Report Your 2016 CRE Credit

The  CRE credits for SOFE's 2016 CDS sessions were automatically added to the CRE records of SOFE AFE, CFE, and AES members who scanned into sessions. However, members  must report  ALL OTHER CRE credits in the CRE online filing area as instructed below.

CRE credits must be reported before the end of January, 2017.  As 2016 marks the end of the 2014-16 CRE triennial period,120 CRE credits   are due for this three-year period. Check the requirements here. Ethics Credits:Beginning  2015, two (2) hours of  the required annual CRE hours for the AFE, CFE and AES designations must be earned  in ethics. Please see the details at the "Certification" tab  above  under  item "i.".

How to Report your CRE credit. You can report your 2016 CRE credit online as you earn it. First review the Reporting Guide. Where to file - Log  into the Members Only area (tab top right, above) Once logged in, go to "Update Your Profile" and scroll  to "Current CRE Reporting Cycle Details" and  the "Add Credits " button. (Remember-The credits you earned at the 2016 SOFE CDS have been uploaded to your record by SOFE, so do not input those.)  

SOFE Testing

CAVEAT— The only study guides for the SOFE tests are provided by SOFE and only on this website. All  SOFE test study guides are free and are  linked under the Testing Tab of this website. Beware of any other entities claiming to offer test preparation for SOFE tests. 

All SOFE testing is offered through the SOFE testing website at where the AFE, CFE and AES tests are offered as well as the CRE Reading Program tests. For information on SOFE testing and fees, go to the Testing tab above.

Test Updates in Progress

Currently the CFE 1, CFE 4 and AFE 4 tests are in the process of being updated to reflect questions taken from the latest editions of the course materials. The updated exams will be available in August 2016.

SOFE Code of Ethical Conduct - Online Presentation

The SOFE Education Committee announces  the addition of a complimentary online recorded presentation on the SOFE Code of Ethical Conduct. The program is presented by SOFE Board of Governors  member, Barry Armstrong, CFE, of The INS Companies, as a contribution to SOFE’s advancement of professional standards for members. Accredited and Certified SOFE members who view the online recording and pass the online test will receive 1 CRE credit in ethics. To access the recording, log in at the ‘Members Login‘ tab above and select the third bulleted item on the member landing page. Instructions on accessing the online test on the presentation for CRE credit are posted with the presentation.
