2024 CDS Call for Presentations Submission Form

Educational sessions at the 2024 Seminar will be 50 or 75 minutes in length and will be presented by a mix of current members and professionals in the insurance field. All sessions must qualify for continuing education credits with SOFE, NASBA and/or ISACA. Attendance at CDS ranges between 500 and 550 attendees.

At the expense of SOFE, non-member speakers may be eligible to receive lodging for one night. General session presenters may be eligible for compensation and/or additional travel expense reimbursement at the discretion of the SOFE CDS Program Committee.

Potential speakers are reminded that SOFE is a non- profit organization and the Society looks for speakers who see the value in presenting to key members of the insurance regulatory community. Speaker selection will take into consideration the cost of speaker compensation.

Session Information

  • If your presentation will qualify for accounting, auditing, or taxation continuing education credit: Presentations meeting National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) Statement on Standards for CPE Programs, Standard No. 5, require participation of at least one licensed CPA (in good standing and holding an active license or the equivalent of an “active” CPA license in a U.S. jurisdiction) in the development of every program.
  • Presentations should include learning objectives and outcomes to clearly demonstrate the participants in the learning activity will achieve professional competency.
  • Learning activities should be developed in a manner consistent with the prerequisite education, experience, and advance preparation of participants.
  • Presentations must use current and technically accurate materials that are effectively designed. Course documentation must contain the most recent publication, revision, or review date. Courses must be revised as soon as feasible following changes to relative codes, laws, rulings, decisions, interpretations, etc.
  • Group live programs must employ instructional methods that clearly define learning objectives, guide the participant through a program of learning, and include elements of engagement within the program.
    • Group discussion, polling questions, instructor-poses questions with time for participant reflection, or use of a case study
    • Must have real time instructor including opportunity to ask questions and receive answers during the presentation
